Day 1 – Delhi Arrival
OOn arrival at Delhi Airport you will be met & transferred to hotel. Delhi is a bustling metropolis, which successfully combines in its folds the ancient with modern. Its strategic location was the prime reasons why successive dynasties chose it as their seat of power. In fact, more mythological cities are believed to be here, like the city of Indraprastha from the Hindu epic Mahabharata, founded around 5000 BC. Numerous monuments were built over several centuries by different rulers like Qutub-ud-din Aibek, Alauddin Khilji, Tughlaks, Humayun & Shah Jahan, who built the Walled City Shah Jahanabad.
Later in first half of 20th century much of New Delhi was planned by Sir Edwin Lutyens, who laid out a grandiose central administrative area as a testament to British rule in India. The division in walled city & New Delhi also marks the division in life styles. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 – Delhi
After a leisurely breakfast move out for full day sightseeing of Old Delhi (Shahajahanabad), which includes the Red Fort, Chandni Chowk & Jama Masjid along with other attractions. Later after lunch drive past through impressive boulevards and buildings such as President’s Residence and others in Lutyen’s Delhi (New Delhi). Overnight at Hotel.
Day 3 – Delhi – Agra enroute visit Mathura & Vrindavan
After breakfast check out from hotel & drive to Agra , en route visit Mathura & Vrindavan, places related with the birth & childhood of Lord Krishna. In Mathura we visit Shri Krishna Janmabhumi temple, a stone slab marks the original birth place of Krishna. In Vrindavan we visit Bankey Bihari Temple, built in the year 1864. Temple is famous for the black statue of Krishna, also called as Thakur Ji. ISKCON Temple, one of the most beautiful temples in Vrindavan. Temple is devoted to Krishna, his brother Balaram & Krishna's beloved Radha.
Further Continue drive to Agra The ancient city once the capital of the Mughal empire in the 16th and 17th century, depicts a gorgeous panorama of majestic architectural creations and a rich tradition of art and culture. Agra houses one of seven wonders of the world, the marble symphony of Emperor Shah Jahan - “The Taj Mahal”. Discover the dazzling creations of their craftsmen in other architectural marvels in Agra, the quintessential Mughal City. On arrival in Agra check in at hotel.Overnight at hotel.
Day 4 – Agra – Bharatpur enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri
Early morning visit TAJ MAHAL ( Closed on Fridays ) An extravagant marble monument of love, built by Shah Jahan in 1653 as a memorial to his queen Mumtaz Mahal. This beautiful mausoleum in pure white marble took 22 years and 22000 craftsmen to build. Later come back to the hotel & after breakfast check out from hotel & continue tour to the Agra Fort, the original red sandstone fort built by Moghul Emperor Akbar in 1565. We will also visit Sikandara, Akbar's tomb. His son Jahangir completed the construction of the tomb in the year 1613. Itmad-Ud-Daulah's Tomb, built by Nur Jahan between 1622 and 1628. Further continue drive to Bharatpur enroute visitng Fatehpur Sikri. This deserted, red sandstone city, built by Emperor Akbar, between 1570 and 1585, now glows in its magnificent past. This was once the capital of the Moghul Empire for a short period but later abandoned due to scarcity of water. Here you will visit the Bulund Darwaza (The Gate of Victory), which is said to be the tallest gateway in the world. In the northern part of the courtyard is the superb white marble tomb of the famous Sufi saint - Shekh Salim Chishti.
On arrival in Bharatpur check in at hotel. Bharatpur, founded by Maharaja Suraj Mal in the year 1733. It was once an impregnable, well-fortified city, & the capital of a kingdom ruled by Jat maharajas. The trio of Bharatpur, Deeg & Dholpur has played an important part in the Jat history of Rajasthan. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5 – Bharatpur – Ranthambhore
After breakfast check out from hotel & visit Bharatpur .In the early hours have a memorable experience of seeing an overwhelming range of birds during the exciting rickshaw trip into the Keoladeo Ghana National Park .Bharatpur bird sanctuary is the home of more than 400 species of birds including the rare Siberian cranes. The national park is a birdwatchers' paradise and offers excellent photography opportunities.
Later straight drive to Ranthambhore. Ranthambore National Park, a forest preserve with abundant lakes and ponds where the wildlife and birds come to drink [180 KMS/ 5 hrs]. Near the township of Sawai Madhopur, in the state of Rajasthan, Ranthambore National park is an outstanding example of Project Tiger’s efforts at conservation in the country. These forests around the 11th c Ranthambore Fort were once the private grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur. As a result of the stringent efforts on conservation, tigers, the prime assets of the park have become more and more active during the day often seen lolling around lazily in the sun or feverishly hunting down sambar around the lakes. Panthers also are found here, as well as marsh crocodiles, hyenas, jungle cats and sloth bears. Sambar are found in abundance all over the area, the prime target of all predators. Chital, nilgai, and chinkara are the other inhabitants of the region. The avian population comprises black storks, quails, Bonelli’s eagles, spur fowls, crested serpent eagles and painted storks.On arrival in Ranthambhore check in at hotel.Overnight at hotel.
Day 6 – Ranthambhore
Take an early morning and an afternoon exploration into the reserve at Ranthambore by jeep safari to look for signs of game animals and other wildlife, including birds. Your guide will stop to show you any sightings and you will have some time for photography.
Morning will be for leisure or for independent activities which could be nature walks or a visit to the 10th century Ranthambore Fort – this fort stands majestically atop a hill overlooking the entire park. The walk up, one of the only places this mode of transport is possible, is a very refreshing and exciting one as even the big cats have been spotted up there! The view of the surrounding keeps getting better and better as you go up but the view from the fort itself can only be described as breathtaking.Overnight at hotel.
Day 7 – Ranthambhore – Bundi
After breakfast check out from hotel & drive to Bundi. Bundi is an undiscovered destination of royal Rajasthan. It has historical monuments, a unique school of painting and numerous step wells carved out of stone in a distinct fashion, that make Bundi a unique destination.
Bundi and Kota are considered twin cities as they are extremely close by. The entire region was ruled by one clan, until the territory that later became Kota separated in 1579. This entire region was ruled by Hada Rajputs; consequently the region was known as Hadoti. The Meena tribe people were the original residents of this area. Bundi is known for art and beautiful paintings. However, markets available are not much modern, but there medieval charm is the memorable identity. Bundi has medieval forts and palaces. Its Taragarh Fort or the Star Fort even charmed Rudyard Kipling! The step wells, also called baoris were an important source of water but now are known for their exquisite stone carvings.On arrival in Bundi check in at hotel.
Later in the afternoon move out fro sightseeing of Bundi , which includes Taragarh Fort. Taragarh fort was built in 1354 and is great palace to ramble around at leisure. Set within the horse-shoe shaped fold of the hills, and with the lakes and water reservoirs below, the fort straddles the crest and offers invincible battlements that must have proved difficult to scale.Bundi Palace, The palace is reached from the north - western end of the bazaar, through a huge wooden gateway and up a steep cobbled ramp. Only one part of the outer perimeter of the palace, known as the Chittra Shala, is officially open to public. It is a fascinating pavilion and has a gallery of miniature murals that embellish the palace. 84 Pillared Cenotaph.
The stunning 84 pillared cenotaph(Chaurasi Khambhon-ki-Chatri), set among the well maintained gardens, is a treat to watch when it is lit up at night. Later we visit Nawal Sagar. visible from the Taragarh fort in Bundi is the magnificent artificial lake, Nawal Sagar. The reflection of the entire city and its palaces can be seen in the lake - making it a unique attraction of Bundi.& also visit Jait Sagar Lake in the north of Bundi, is a picturesque lake flanked by hills and strewn with pretty lotus flowers during the monsoon and winter months. Day 8 – Bundi – Bassi enroute visit Kota
After breakfast check out from hotel & drive to Bassi enroute visit Kota , along the eastern bank of the Chambal River lies an amazing juxtaposition of the majestic medieval age & modern industrialisation temples its untouched wealth of impressive forts, opulent palaces & splendid temples dating back over several centuries retain the past glory. The city was formed in the year 1572 Maharao.Today we visit Umaid Bhawan Palace , Umed Bhawan is one of the most beautiful palaces of Kota. Built in 1009 by Maharao Umed Singh II of Kota. This palace was designed by Sir Swinton Jacob who spent many years in Rajasthan. The overall design of the palace is European. There is an Edwardian drawing room, a billiard room and a very well laid out garden surrounding the palace. There are long corridors, courtyard and Italian marble floors. Rao Madho Singh Ji Museum .This was formerly a palace and is named after the son of the ruler of Bundi who was made the first ruler of Kota State by the Mughal emperor Jehangir. The museum is closed on Fridays and state holidays. It gives a wonderful glimpse of the glory and history of the place with miniature paintings and ancient armory on display. Situated in the old palace, it houses a rich collection of Rajput paintings of the Kota school.
Later continue drive to Bassi , about 25 km northeast of Chittaurgarh is famous for wood carvers.Most famous among the work done by these artisans are the brightly painted wooden carvings or the Kavads.On arrival in Bassi check in at hotel.Overnight at hotel.
Day 9 – Bassi – Udaipur enroute visit Chittaurgarh
After breakfast check out from hotel & visit Bassi, village , temples , step well cenotaphs , the exquisite sculptures , woodcraft , shoemaking , potters etc. Later drive to Chittaurgarh. an ancient city in Rajasthan. It lies on the Berach River, a tributary of the Banas, & a former capital of the erstwhile kingdom of Mewar. By the 16th century, Mewar had become the leading Rajput state. After the Mughal Emperor Akbar captured Chittorgarh in the year 1568, the capital was moved west to Udaipur, in the foothills of the Aravalli Range, where Rana Udai Singh II had established a residence in 1559. However, Chittorgarh remains replete with historic associations & hold a special place in the hearts of many Rajputs, as it was a bastion of the clan at a time when every other stronghold had succumbed to invasion.
Here we visit Chittor Fort (Battlefields of battles between the Ranas of Chittor & Alauddin Khilji, Sultan Bahadur Shah of Gujarat & Emperor Akbar.] It is a massive structure with zigzag accent to it. The road leads through seven gates to the main gate Rampol (Gate of Ram). The main gate of the fort itself is Surajpol (Sun Gate). During the visit we also visit Rana Kumbha Palace, ruined edifice of great historical & architectural interest, being the most massive monument in the fort of Chittaur. The palace is believed to have underground cellars where Rani Padmini & other women committed Jauhar.
Next we visit Victory Tower, built in the year 1440 AD by Maharana Kumbha to commemorate his victory over Mohamed Khilji this 9-storyed tower is adorned by sculptures of Hindu deities around. This tower is the piece-de-resistance of Chittorgarh. Palace of Rani Padmini, built beside the lotus pool with a historical pavilion that changed the history of Chittor. Ala-ud-din saw the reflection of Queen Padmini from here & was mesmerized. In the quest of possessing her led to a furious battle with Maharani Padmini's husband & the epitome of beauty-Cleopatra of Rajasthan, became an eternal legend in the history of Chittor. Tower of Fame, Dedicated to Adinathji the 1st Jain Tirthankara adorned by the naked figures of the Digambar [Adherents of the Digambar sect who does not believe in covering the natural body] A narrow stairway goes through seven stories of the tower to the top. The 22 metres high tower was build by a wealthy Jain merchant in the 12th century AD.
Palace of Patta & Jaimal, stand on a rocky rise south of Gomukh Kund. Both warrior heroes died in the third sack of Chittaur fighting the forces of Emperor Akbar.
Later continue drive to Udaipur. This is Rajasthan’s most congenial and romantic city situated in the lap of the thickly wooded Aravali Hills. Founded in 1568 by Maharana Udai Singh following the final sacking of Chittorgarh by the Mughal Emperor, Akbar, Udaipur rivals any of the world famous creations of the Mughals with its Rajput love of the whimsical and its superbly crafted elegance. Udaipur has been called the “Venice of the East”.On arrival at Udaipur Airport you will be met & transferred to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 10 – Udaipur
After a leisurely breakfast move out for full day sightseeing of Udaipur. Begin your tour with a visit to the City Palace. At this Palace complex, one will marvel at the rooms with mirrored walls and ivory doors, windows with colored glass, inlaid marble balconies and the peacock courtyard. Also visit the lovely Sahelion-ki-bari gardens, the Jagdish temple and the local Museum.
Later in the evening enjoy boat cruise on the placid waters of Lake Pichola. The beautiful Lake Pichola was enlarged by Maharana Udai Singh after he founded the city. The city palace extends a considerable distance along the east bank of the lake. From the boat you will be able to view the city of Udaipur as it rises majestically above the lake in the middle of the Rajasthan desert. You can also visit the Jag Mandir Palace – which is a lovely island palace in the middle of the lake.Overnight at hotel.
Day 11 – Udaipur – Kumbhalgarh
After breakfast check out from hotel & drive to Kumbhalgarh. Kumbhalgarh is the second most important bastion in the Mewar region, after Chittorgarh. Where it now stands, was once the site of an ancient citadel dating back to the 2nd century AD. That citadel belonged to a Jain descendant of India's Mauryan emperors. Rana Kumbha founded the fort of Kumbhalgarh in the 15th century. Kumbhalgarh in Rajasthan, India is one of the few forts in India that remain unconquered till date. One of the reasons behind this is the inaccessibility and hostile topography of the fort. Maharana Fateh Singh got the fort renovated in the 19th century.
En route we visit Haldighati (Gogunda) - the most famous battlefield of Rajputana where the most famous battle was fought in the year 1576 between Rana Pratap & the Imperial Forces of Emperor Akbar.On arrival in Kumbhalgarh check in at hotel.Later in the afternoon move out fro sightseeing of Kumbhalgarh.Today we visit Kumbhalgarh Fort , Wildlife Sanctuary , Badal Mahal.Overnight at hotel.
Day 12 – Kumbhalgarh – Jodhpur enroute visit Ranakpur
After breakfast check out from hotel & drive to Jodhpur enroute visit Ranakpur.Renowned for some marvellously carved Jain temples in amber stone ranakpur is one of the five holy places of the jain community, 96km from Udaipur, these temples were created in the 15th century A.D. during the regin of Rana Kumbha and are enclosed within a wall. The central chaumukha or four faced temple is dedicated to the venerated trithankara Rishabhji. Open on all four sides it enshrines the four faced image of Adinath. Sprawling over 48,000 sq.feet the temple is an astounding creation with 29 halls and 1,444 pillars-all distinctly carved.
Later continue drive to Jodhpur. Bustling desert city is the second largest city in Rajasthan & has landscape dominated by the massive Mehrangarh Fort topping a sheer rocky ridge.
Rao Jodha, a chief of the Rathore clan, founded the city in the year 1459 & it is named after him. It was formerly the seat of a Princely state, also known as Marwar.On arrival in Jodhpur check in at hotel.Overnight at hotel.
Day 13 - Jodhpur
After breakfast move for full day sightseeing of Jodhpur.Today we visit The Mehrangarh Fort (Majestic Fort), one of the most impressive & formidable structures anywhere in India. Built by Rao Jodha, this 5km long Fort is on a 125m high hill & has some magnificent palaces with marvellously carved panels latticed window. The Fort Museum houses an exquisite collection of palanquins, howdahs (Elephant saddles), royal cradles, miniatures paintings, musical instruments, costumes & furniture.
We also visit Jaswant Thada, a cluster of royal cenotaphs in white marble built in the year 1899 AD in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Within the main cenotaph are the portraits of various Jodhpur rulers. It is an architectural landmark of Jodhpur.
Later we also visit the Guda Bishnoi Village, a world of tribal colour & rustic cultural grandeur. A tour to the village in open air jeeps, visit various traditional villages, look at local handicrafts like shoe makers, pottery, hand weaving. Bishnois are an integral part of this region, a very hard working & hospitable tribal community. It is a wonderland where wild animals walk past village huts & villagers prefer to sleep without food so that animals are fed. They are ready to die to save the trees & nature & lead a pure vegetarian & clean life according to tenets preached by religious guru, Jambaji. They worship nature in all its forms & pray to green trees & animals that inhabit their land & thus make every effort to conserve environment. A noticeable fact about Bishnois is that they pray to Hindu deity Lord Vishnu & bury their dead like Muslims.Overngiht at hotel.
Day 14 – Jodhpur – Kuchaman
After breakfast check out from hotel & drive to Kuchaman. Founded by Thakur Zalim Singh in 1781 AD, Kuchaman is a small village known for its impressive fort that has been converted into a grand heritage hotel today. Untouched by the forces of commercialization, Kuchaman exists in a state of blissful ignorance. On arrival in Kuchaman check in at hotel.Overnight at hotel.
Day 15 – Kuchaman - Jaipur
After breakfast check out from hotel & move around to local streets of town & see the local bazaars , visit Meera Mahal .Later straight drive to Jaipur. popularly known as Pink City, the flamboyant & colourful capital of Rajasthan. With its rich & colourful past, resplendent with tales of valour & bravery, it is now one of the most important heritage cities in India. The city was founded in the year 1728 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber. It remains the only city in the world symbolizing the nine divisions of the universe, through nine rectangular sectors.On arrival in Jaipur check in at hotel.Overnight at hotel
Day 16 – Jaipur
After a leisurely breakfast move out for full day sightseeing of Jaipur .Morning proceed for an excursion to Amber Fort which is located 12 kms outside Jaipur. The original Palace was built by Raja Mansingh and later additions were made by Sawai Jai Singh. One of the finest example of Rajput architecture, it was the ancient capital of Kachhawa rulers. Enjoy the ascent to the palace on the back of a brightly caparisoned elephant. Visit the multiple chambers and hallways of the palace which are famous for their design and decorations. This unique capital of the erstwhile warrior kings of Rajasthan is a must on every tourist itinerary to the state.
Afternoon, proceed for a city tour to visit the unique Jantar Mantar, which is a magnificent stone observatory built by Raja Jai Singh in 1728 and drive past the Hawa Mahal, an intriguing “ Palace of Winds”. This was really a facade built in 1799, to allow royal ladies to view the city from the windows. Later visit the opulent City Palace, the former royal residence built in a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal style which has grand museums displaying an excellent collection of miniature paintings, costumes and armory.Overnight at hotel.
Day 17 – Jaipur – Delhi
After breakfast check out from hotel & drive to Delhi enroute lunch at Neemrana Fort.At appropriate time transfer to Delhi International Airport to connect flight for your onward destination.
